It all started when…

My “gramps”, Lynn Gripon, started Lynn’s Landscaping in 1951 after studying Horticulture at Texas A&M University. He had dreamt of owning a landscaping business, so he purchased the land from his sister with the mission to “beautify the Bay Area”.

He had a keen eye for it too. Gramps designed some of League City’s most beautiful gardens, including Helen’s Garden on Main Street. I guess you can say our family has strong roots here in League City. We love it here. Gramps did too.

Gramps passed away in September of 2000. Before he had passed away my father took over Lynn’s Landscaping. My father has chosen to run the business with the same heartbeat as Gramps and to be an active force in the development of our community.

Just as my Gramps taught my father about service, community, and being a diligent worker, my father taught me the same lessons. We have always taken pride in serving our community and serving it well. I hold these same values as an operational standard for the Gripon Gardens.

You see, a garden center has been operated on our grounds since my father graduated college and opened it in 1990. However, there was a two-year blip in time when it was more of a blended family business when the Garden Center was run by some family friends. When the moment came for them to retire, I was presented with the opportunity to take over the garden center and bring it back into the family. I always knew since I was a child in some form or fashion I wanted to carry on a piece of my family’s legacy. For me, this is it.

There was a quick turn around in my taking over and I want to make Gripon Gardens at Lynn’s the best garden center in the area. So I am working hard to restore the property to the way it looked when all the features were first completed by my father. I have beautified the ponds, the disappearing waterfalls, and stocked the place full of perennials, annuals, shrubbery, trees, and more! I invite you to come and experience the magic of walking through the palapa and feeling as though you’ve traveled through time and landed into another world.

Gripon Gardens at Lynn’s is in its sixth year of operation, and we are really excited to see where this year takes us.
